Trying to post tonight about what in my day I am thankful for, what were the blessings, where were the joys, etc...Then I think to myself, "Is this truly glorifying to God, is this furthering His Kingdom, or is this just a way to escape the reality of my day?" Is it OK these days to post about what you really feel, a long with the little/big things God gives you throughout,(like David) or do we just have to put on a smiley face and forget all the other stuff and only give thanks for the good?
Can this really change your life so much that even the struggles, the pain, the frustrations etc.. are no longer things that hurt, but things you are actually thankful for and joyful over. Even Jesus wept when He was here on earth, He asked for the cup to be taken from him. He was willing to do it and go through it, so we could have eternal life, but it was still painful.
If we never share our struggles, our hurt our pain, our reality, how do we expect others to. How do we expect to give God the glory for His powerful restoration in our lives. Will people even see Him if we keep it all in in and pretend everything is picture perfect? Stop being fake, happy, good be happy, sad, feeling unworthy, good, son's and daughter's of the Most High, let His light shine through it! Quit trying to hide, because in your hiding, in my hiding we are hiding the light!
I am not demeaning the fact that we should give thanks, because we should by all means give thanks to the Lord for all He has, is, and will continue doing. I am just saying, if you're doing it to hide, if you are doing it to escape the truth, than don't do it!! Lament, cry out to Him, ask for prayer, knowing that He will satisfy your soul, He will heal your broken heart, and He will show you how much you mean to Him! That's when the real thankfulness becomes real, and not just a show! (As I mentioned, 'like David')
